■About this business

Based on the "technology and spirit cultivated together with Lake Biwa," Shiga Prefecture launched the Shiga Water Environment Business Promotion Forum in 2013, an industry-academia-public-private platform, to promote the overseas expansion of environmental technologies within the prefecture (renamed the Shiga Environment Business Promotion Network in September 2025). This project is organized by JETRO Shiga and JETRO Kuala Lumpur, with cooperation from Shiga Prefecture, as part of an initiative to support the overseas expansion of environmental businesses by Japanese companies, mainly in the Shiga Prefecture and Kansai regions.

Our company was established to support Japanese companies in expanding into Southeast Asia, particularly in Malaysia. In addition to preparing research reports, this project is responsible for researching and interviewing promising buyers on the Malaysian side. This project, which connects Japanese technology with the Malaysian field through business negotiations, is the very form of support that our company has aimed for since its establishment.

■Survey report contents

The report outlines regulatory trends, local social challenges, and opportunities for Japanese companies to enter the market in the following three areas:

- Industrial water treatment sector (including palm oil wastewater (POME) and land-based aquaculture)
- Industrial waste management sector (including sustainable aviation fuel (SAF))
・Living environment home appliances field

■Overview of the business meeting

Along with the publication of the report, companies are being recruited to participate in a business conference that invited Malaysian buyers to Japan. Here's a summary:

・Date and time: January 21, 2027 (Thursday) 9:30am 〜 5:00pm
Location: Hotel in Kusatsu City, Shiga Prefecture (planned)
・Content: Individual business meetings with 3〜4 Malaysian buyers (EPC, O&M, distributors, etc.) (approximately 50 minutes per meeting, pre-matching system)
・Target fields: Industrial wastewater treatment, industrial waste treatment, other application fields (land-based aquaculture, POME, SAF), residential environment appliances
・Capacity: Approximately 10〜15 companies (priority given to small and medium-sized enterprises, and depending on the application status, priority given to Shiga Prefecture companies and Kansai companies)
・Participation fee: Free

Until October 30, 2026 (Friday): Register your products in the "Japan Street" online catalog exclusively for JETRO Invitation Buyers.
Late November 2026 (planned): Based on the submitted information, a buyer will be selected to negotiate.
January 21, 2027 (Thursday): A business meeting will be held in Kusatsu City, Shiga Prefecture.
